Nothing wrong with those SA 3speeds they are bullet proof if you keep them adjusted properly. I have one with over 32,000 miles on it and it is still clean inside. They make several different tires in the 26x1-3/8" size just have to dig for them. I have seen white walls but have no clue where the came from. Schwalbe makes several tires in that size. I run the Marathon's on my Raleigh Superbe, on my wife's bike I run the Kenda gumwalls because they are cheap and her tires usually dry rot before the wear out. The Kenda's also come in at least 2 different tread styles, a smooth street tread and one that is a bit more aggressive. I have ordered NOS Dunlops from England in the past and IRC still makes a tire too. If you want a wider tire you will have to re-lace the wheel, not a big deal, wheel building is a good skill to have anyway :wink:
