Picked this here old Schwinn Racer frame up off the bay a good while back and since been wanting to do some sort of build with it. Well, it turns out the bike is actually a 26"er but I put a fork on it from a 27" wheel Schwinn and the rear seat and chain stays actually accept the 27" rear wheel perfectly, threw on a set of Redline Sealed bearing 3-piece cranks, 46/16 on the gearing and she fly's.

Really like the looks of this machine. Any thoughts for brakes? I ride in place with lots of hills. So whenever I see this style of bikes that one thing that crosses my brain.

Tektro r539 long drop calipers, least I think that's the correct number and some velo orange bar end levers.

Thanks guys, it has a coaster brake rear wheel that I repacked with synthetic grease and adjusted, it actually stops really good. It's all flat land around here where I live and ride. I'd sure hate to scuff up the old classic Mavic G40 hoops with some caliper pads

That's good! I sure hate to hear about a bike accident. Did you know in order to sell a new bike in UK that it needs to have front and rear brakes.
