I mostly collected memories and a few photos of the NS 611 and the NS (C&0) 2716 as well as some EMD F units back when NS was doing their steam program. Went between Attalla and Chattanooga on a few excursions on the AGS. I would love to go out west and ride the UP 844 sometime! Thanks!!!
Love trains! Real ones...toy ones, photos.....anything! I've collected anything I can having to do with local RR history, a couple maps from the early 20th century, photos of old RR anything and have a decent amount of HO & N scale trains to play with. I could go on & on but I dont want to get a cramp..... :lol:
I've also got a bunch of Pre-War Lionel track, bridges, related items, 1 gondola and a bunch of overhead mount wall brackets for sale if anyone is into that.

I have a quite large Märklin H0 train collection from the 50s/60s/70s. Most of the stuff I inherited from my late grandfather, but I obtained numerous items to complement it over the decades.
I also have an almost complete Kitmaster collection.

I'm just getting into it after 25 years. Just finished a simple HO layout with my 10-year old son. Loving it. I'm planning on doing an N-scale coffee table layout of the New Orleans St. Charles streetcar line. I live right next to a major junction for BNSF in Schriever, LA.

Tattoo I got of the sound of driving across train tracks. Boom Boom is from a game I played with my dad as a kid. He made it up to make me aware of train tracks and trains after a cousin died at a crossing. Just above it you can see the bottom of my City of New Orleans tattoo. the last pic on here is what I used as reference for that one. I also have the train from the beginning of the film 3:10 to Yuma on that same arm.
Got a buddy n the inside who gets me UP & BNSF stuff. Thats a close up of my new helmet. I have a few now but this old sticker is the best.

And KJV, I envy you. I can hear there from my house SOMETIMES when it's quite out but they are still 3 miles away. When I move to a house I am going to be looking for a spot not to far from the tracks. Here's some pics of a buddy of mine, Dave, hopping some trains. He just made the news for some non-train hopping stuff this last week. Google him. He can now afford to by every rat rod bike ever posted on this whole site...twice over! And still he's a train bum at heart. :shock:

I love trains as well, my dad is now retired from working at Amtrak about two years ago and my grand parents in Jacksonville Fl had worked for The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad.
Back in the 80's we had a big train set with Amtrak & other trains but we moved once then lost it all.

My Grandpa (passed away almost 20 years ago) worked at the Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Railyard, I have a few railroad items since I ended up with his collection of tie tacs, cuff links, misc stuff.
I know Ive seen a few "coins" and a few other small items, My mom has a coal bucket, and one of those four way lamps that has the red and green lenses, maybe used for a switch?
One interesting thing I did find was a Mechanix Illustrated Golden Hammer award, its like a tie tac, pretty cool. Im trying to find out what he did to earn it. Its probably one of those reader submission project things, wish I could find the issue it was in... that would be awesome!!

I'm sure I don't need to tell you all this but just in case... riding rails-to-trails can be a great way to connect with railroad history.
There's more to see than just cabooses (got a little carried away)
Beautiful depots, trestles and tunnels. Signage and some trails even have markers explaining the railroad's history.

Here are a few relics I found. Most of these are slides( no digital camera yet!) from 1999.
Old 40' Pennsylvania box car laying long forgotten in the weeds south Croton/ Harmon Yard on the Metro North mainline ,Croton on Hudson ,NY.
You can barely see the old keystone logo...
Last of the EMD FL-9s in passenger service in the US. They were rolled out on a rip track to await their fate. A few ended up in rail museums, the rest met the torch. End of an era. South Croton/ Harmonyard.( Notice some rail fans stole all the number boards off of them)
A real gem from right here in Richmond Hill, Queens at the Long Island Railroad Morris Park shops. My buddy and I walked right in there and was asked by the yard boss to leave. He was a railfan and let us take some pics before he had to escort us out. This was the pre 9/11 days. Today its well protected behind fences and razor wire. No pics allowed anymore. Get caught and get arrested.
Its the last LIRR FL-9 and Alco FA on the ancient steam era round table. Both locos were retired within months of this picture. Never to be seen around here again.

LOCOJOE & Spokes - This stuff is great!! The yellow UP 'Pulling for you' is a nice thing to see preserved like that.
locojoe--you bring up a good point. Rails to Trails and like efforts is an excellent way to support both the biking hobby and your local railroad history. Joining and supporting any local group is a great way to help out and/or showing support for both!
I am a signalman for BNSF. Could send you some pics, videos, possibly some calendars or whatever. Installing new equip in Ft. Madison Iowa currently.
