I thought of mounting the opener to the box but I think that if the box is too heavy I may take it off from time to time. I am unable to find a store that actually has the opener I'm looking for. I really don't want to order it online if I can avoid it. Once I get some parts this build will resume. Being broke really is no fun.

So I bought me some fenders from Canadian Tire the other day. (Yay early Christmas gift). The fenders come black. My thought is this: Leave them black? or paint them white?
Why do you guys think? If you had a choice of white or black fenders on this bike what would you put on?

I've been waiting for bearings for this build now for over a month... They are apparently in Vancouver B.C. but that does me little good. I am going to paint the fenders I have and put the wheels on that I am going to use for now. I will try to get something done this weekend on this build. I'm compiling my "to do" list for my projects to try and focus more and not keep putting things off. Holidays were rough on me this year but I think once I'm focused again I will be a little happier. Stay tuned!

hahaha this is an awesome build ... even though its a coca cola bike :wink: .. im a die hard pepsi girl made a pepsi bike last year , our bikes should meet up and have a showdown

So I've finally been able to do a little more on the Coke bike...
I got the cups and bearings finally for the crank. This crank was meant for a ten speed but I took off the smaller inside crank and the flimsy tin outer part.

I have to drill out a cut off pedal stem on the crank but I'll get that later.

I finally have my fenders painted the way I want. I'll put them on tomorrow.

I also put on a kickstand seeing as how I'll need it to stand on it's own when the box is on the back rack. I had to cut an inch off the kickstand because of the smaller wheels.

I'm almost done. I was working on a custom shifter but I didn't take pics yet. I'll show those tomorrow.

Looking pretty good, You may have to search for some long reach brakes or alter a pair. I had this problem before lol or if you don't mind useing your shoe, I remember them days

I have ideas on altering my brakes... I saw the issue as soon as I mounted the tires. Tomorrow after I finish off some other stuff I will start tackling my brakes. Last on the list of things to do.

I put the fenders on this morning... looking at the pictures though and I see I need to adjust them some more to make them look right. But here is some shots of how they look now on the bike.

Next I worked on the shifter. The idea I had doesn't look right so I will just use this for now. The old school components of two shifter styles mashed into one.

I added a piece of a road bike brake handle and riveted it on.

And here it is mounted and functional.

I also saw right away that I was going to have a problem with the brake arms reaching but I had an idea and it actually worked! :shock: I cut pieces from road bike brakes that I won't be using.

Re-using more of the road bike brake parts I attached the new arms to existing ones and bingo! I have brakes.

I would make sure those extenders on your rear brake are really really tight. The longer you make those brake arms the less braking force you will have. They will want to bend and torque when you pull the brake.
