look up the serial on the mens frame (guessing early 60's) and then check the year catalog. Should be able to find it by looking for bikes with the front rack and a full painted chainguard (and the chrome at the top of the fork).

Where are the serial numbers located? I have looked and can't find them on any of the 3 frames

They will be either on the bottom bracket, left drop out or the head tube. Here is the data base I use to find the date- http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101 ... odes1.html

found them, hidden by patina...lol.

American E020499
and Wasp L51737 with a star on the dropout. What does the star mean? It doesn't have one on the other dropout so I'd assume it is something special???

I looked them up here and they said it was a 5/01/1958 American and a 6/23/1954 through 6/28/1954 Wasp

Cool pickins! I can't believe of alll things to survive on that American was the chaingaurd.  Yes, well worth an early morning. Worth their weight in wal-mart bikes.

Yeah it out weighs a Wal-mart bike 3 to one.....lol. It's a high quality, American made, beast of a bike.
Weighed out at just under 50 lbs! And that's with all that stuff missing! I can imagine after fenders, wheels, rack, seat, handlebars, and lights. It'd be a TANK!
