OK, I'm an idiot.
I've got this NOS Ashtabula fork for my wife's bike.

My 'dilema' is, the fork is now painted and striped (sorry no pic) and I'd like to add a fork crown to it. Is there a simple way of getting the bearing race off other than GENTLY tapping a screwdriver or chisel under it and NOT jack up my paint??

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Cheers,
Dr. T

they make race pullers from park tool, bu they are $ , pretty much all the shops around here use the screwdriver/hammer technique instead of getting the tool.
