removing skip tooth chain links

Is there an easy way to do it without the tool?

I've set the chain link on a couple of blocks. somehow you have to support the link while leaving room for the pin to come out. Then tap the pin out with a nail or a punch or anything like that. Don't hammer too hard, you don't want to bend or damage the link.

I've seen it done with two small wooden blocks,old socket and punch. Hey Oz. this was done at the frontnec Flea Market! in PSJ. Tom

That's funny. There were never any cool bikes there when I went. Maybe a couple but never anything really old.
