Here's my '76 (maybe '79? I forget) Raleigh Record. I picked it up about a year ago from C'List for $40 and started cleaning and rebuilding it.
It had these narrow flat bars installed when I bought it and I rather like them, so they received new grips and brake levers.
I had originally planned on just running the original wheels but they were HEAVY (and a little crooked, too) so I threw these alloy wheels on, with new tires/tubes/strips and new brake pads. I kept the 27x1 1/4" sizing instead of converting to 700C. I also added a 12th speed...28T to 14T in the rear and 40T & 52T front.
Then I broke the plastic body of the front derailleur and couldn't find a replacement, so I machined a new body out of aluminum and used the hardware from the original. I also replaced the OG rear derailleur with a new SunRace unit.
All in all, for a first road bike, I'm really pleased with it! It rides great, it's fast, and it's fun. I'm especially pleased with how the front derailleur turned out, and I don't think I'll ever see another one like it
