I've been looking for a large MTB diamond frame to repurpose but I've had no luck so far. I'm wondering if I could add a road frame to my scanner? My initial thought is that a road frame's rear triangle wouldn't be wide enough to accomodate a fat tire.

A road frame will limit your tire width. You may be able to add BMX caliper brakes to fit a wider tire in the frame.
There is a thread in the gallery for skinny tired cruisers. Checking out that thread may help, Sr Chief.

A lot (not all) of 27" and 700 road bikes will handle a 26"x1.75", but you'll need to fab a brake mount, or add axle spacers and possibly re-dish the wheel if you're using a coaster brake hub. :|

Yeah, that's what I thought. So... I'll stick with the MTB plan. My plan is to clean off all the brake posts and what not, just making it a smooth frame for a coaster brake.

I've got an old mountain bike frame its a crappie walmart but if you want it to try you can have it all you'll need is shipping

I like that way you mounted the headlight off the front wheel bolt. I remember seeing that somewhere on here.... Oh yeah.....
