I've been looking for a nice older Raleigh 3 speed and couldn't find one so I got this one for $20. I love the sprocket and the badging but the color is umm...well I doubt if it was one of Raleigh's more popular sellers. The grips and seat are later additions and will have to go. This bike was ridden a lot and I'm not sure whether to live with the scratches and scrapes and keep it as is or tear it down and restore it with new paint and decals.
The other odd thing is that the owner said the original sturmy archer hub was a 5 speed and it's dated 1969. But he said he burned out the 5 speed hub and had the 5 speed hub rebuilt with a 3 speed internals. Still says 5 speed on the hub.
