are there ever themes to these builds?

Never really any themes just styles of bikes. The official build-off is for rat rods. In the unofficial build-offs there have been diamond frame, kids, klunkers and spaceliner style bikes. Check out the archives.

I like themed bikes and wouldn't mind seeing a theme bike build off. Wouldn't even have to be the same theme. Just whomever best pulls off their chosen theme.
