New tank seems to flow better with the frame. Would there be a way to let it even flow back to the seat tube over the top tubes? Just a thought.

Now I'm not saying you should make another tank. But I am saying that you could. There's 3 months to go on this build and IF you're not happy then make another one, don't settle. Minwax makes a very nice blue stain, water based that looks like paint straight out of the can, but thinned looks great, allowing the wood grain to show thru. I've used it on furniture it's pretty good, better yet, there are also alcohol based stain powders you mix yourself. Lay on the stain once, fine sand it, and stain it again it will show the grain fantastic. Reranch is the brand I used. Their website is good, links to application videos and tutorials etc.

I recently found a nice red Spaceliner. I've always wanted one. Weird the painted ones are lower ended models and are painted right over the chrome, seems like it'd be more expensive to paint the low end ones (unless of course they were painting the flawed chrome ones...) I like what you've got going.

The Rustoleum Multi-Textured paint works great for a bit of rust. Just added some to my fender and front fork / head light tonight. Silver / chrome parts always rust brown, rather than orange / red.

Kinda got sidetracked tonight. Found what I first thought was a Flightliner, but turned out to be a Ross Deluxe.
Now I need to pretty much leave it alone and try to stay focused on the build off! [emoji6]

Ok, sort of back on track tonight. I worked on the Spaceliner before playing a little with the Ross.
Been watching YouTube videos on weathering wood and putting some more thought into finishing the woodwork.
Here is where I am at now. After some work with a wire brush and various hitting and jabbing moves I applied a good coat of the gray stain. After that sat a few minutes and wiped, I shot with a closer match blue spray paint. After that sat a few minutes I scrubbed it with four ought steel wool. Then slobbered on some ebony stain and wiped it down again. When it's all dry I might sand the edges a bit and hit the exposed wood with more stain. When dry I'll use a flat clear coat.
Trying to get a grubby-oily look to the wood rather than a true weathered look.

You definitely achieved a really close match to the blue on the rims. This bike has a swoopy, fast, vintage aerospace look to it; except for the seat.
Any thoughts to modifying / replacing the Captain's chair, Captain?

Thanks OJ. Yes, I am still pondering the seat. I have '70's (probably, going by how long I've had them) Messenger and Troxel seats, the seat that came on the Spaceliner, and a late model gel/rubber spring seat on hand. I always grab that ratty old Bell seat to put on a work in progress.
The original seat would be the ideal one to use, but it's got some issues. Plus not sure if it will fit a 7/8" seat post top.

Very cool lights. They go well with the rest of the bike, and tailights look like some kind of pulse/ion/hyperdive engines

It looks like the purchase of the Ross has stirred up quite a few cans of worms. Those ape hangers have been gnawing at me since I got the bike to put them on my hot rod Townie. So today between the showers I had to try it.

Thus begins the game of musical handlebars. Where do the Clubman bars from the Townie go now? The Ross? The Spaceliner?
The Spaceliner? Hmmmm....

Thinking the upside down Clubmans might look good on the Spaceliner (perhaps like a steering yoke in a space ship?), but I'll need to get a an old school BMX style gooseneck with a 7/8" bar clamp and 21.1mm stem to mount them on the Spaceliner. Then maybe the Wald bars on the SpaceLiner could work on the Ross. I guess if Tom Slick and Gertie have time to build and rebuild the Grease Slapper I have time to play me some musical handlebars.

Okay, finally it wasn't raining when I got home.
Tried out a few doodads tonight.
A blue "racing stripe" along the top of the frame. It's a 1/2" wide strip of aluminum painted blue. Currently it is held in with electrical tape for now.
A curved piece of tubing to kinda fill in some of the gap between the seat tube and rear tire.
And a little hood ornament for the little hood over the headlights. I think it's actually a nautical piece, but it has nice streamlined lines.
Next will be try and fit some rocket fins on it somewhere. After all, it is the height of the space race and Neil and Buzz will need a bike on the moon next month!

I like how they come off the twin top tubes, but maybe not with the blue strip in there?
