I gave this BFK stingray to my nephew last year for his birthday and he managed to mess it up pretty good. He popped the front tire, bent the front fork and snapped the stem in half. I brought it home to try to breathe a little life back into it with some random parts. It may not be pretty, but now he can take it off sweet jumps again.

woww. i dont even KNOW how a stem could fail like that. maybe this is how BMXing came to be... those springers failed on their sting-rays and they stuck on tough forks and better bars..

Hello Gtcoma,

Reminds me of myself back in the 60's.
My pals and myself broke a lot of bicycles
my newspaper route earnings pretty much
went into bikes. Saturday mornings at Joes bike shop
was as common as Sunday Services.

Good job on the repair.

Cheers.

ten years or so ago, when they were in boulder, they ran an ad that was a parody of the old 'schwinn dealer news'. the gag was the headline stating "schwinn to replace 'quality' seal with 'quantity'...." who new that was destined to become a self fulfilling prophesy?
