schwinn tornado

i went to a antique store and found this, the tag on it said its a 1952 Schwinn tornado. got it for 40 bucks for my girl.

Check the serial number, I'd guess they were off about 10 years. It is more likely early 60's. Nice bike though, should clean up fine.

the numbers on the rear, were you bolt on the rear wheel.

these old girls cruisers definatly make nice projects for our wives or girlfriends, don't they? looks like you got a really good start to a nice build up for your girl. i got a 60-62? hawthorne girls cruiser i'm doing up for my wife. gonna do a full rebuild? i have a 62' schwinn h.d. american cruiser (my 1st cruiser) and these old schwinns hold up really well and fell nice and solid. great project bikes. only thing i don't like is schwinns 26 x 1 3/4 s rims.

I'm redoing mine back to stock. I don't know if the chrome will clean up, so it might get painted white. I bought 2 new tires from Bicycle Rick @ Peddlers yesterday. I hope to paint it this coming week. I found some blue spray paint that is a perfect match. I really wanted to paint it pink, but I guess it will stay blue.
