All I remember is back in the early 70's when I was a lot younger, we used to build ramps out in the street to jump our bikes, and my old stingray was like a tank, it held up better that the rest of the bikes in the neighborhood, I could beat the crap out of it all day long and it was always good to go for more!
Ouch stop it that hurts

As I build bikes ,sometimes I pickup a frame and it really feels heavy....then another feels really light. I have found that the heavier frames are usually welded better and also fit better. The 60's Columbias dont have the fit or welding that others do . This last Schwinn I chopped up was really light and I thought it would be really cheap thin metal. It was light but the tubing was thick. No weld burned through. I was even impressed. I think that a bike that makes you happy is a good one. I love any baloon tire bike from the 20's to the 50's. People put more pride in their work. You hardly ever saw a bike that was put together shoddly. American workmanship was at its peak in that time period in my opinion. Just wish the silly little kids wouldnt have thrown all the tanks away.

I can turn my schwinn around real good, just lock up the rear brakes and skid it around

Idk. ;) I like that hiawatha.. I like old bikes in genral idc bout the brand.

one thing I've noticed is that older frames in general seem larger than their modern day cruiser brothers. Almost as if the newer ones weren't made to be ridden as often comfortably. Mind you I'm talking about cheapo cruisers here...
