Well I'm in... but realized I'm more of a rider than builder

RBBOff#6 bike, the favorite of all my bikes and still ride it a lot

RBBOff#7 bike, liked the concepts and stance but it's kinda more for just cruising

Been feeling uninspired lately but I think I have a direction
Bought a older girl's 24" bike (again) and it had some good parts
White steel wheels, Bendix hub, 24" fork and ???

Not sure if I'll go with the Schwinn frame (still haven't built it since last year's switch)
It won't be the lightest bike but I need it to be more ridable (than JUP and 24" Elim)
As long as I stick with the 24" white wheels (ISO 507mm),
will probably use my Hoggy G and Schwalbe Kojak

It won't be too original but that's okay because it's the bike I've seen others build (TVC15's most recently) and I want one too

Really looking forward to everybody else's innovative builds and glad to be a part of the fray :D

Thanks for Looking

^^^^^ What he said!^^^^^
Glad you are in it Steve.
Build it Ride it!

Re: Flat Black & White: Pile 'O Parts

Hey Steve!!! Glad to see you are in! I will be paying close attention to your build. Jacked Up Pilot was a big inspiration for me.

p.s. We need to go ride soon.

Re: Flat Black & White: Pile 'O Parts

I know you'll have something cool to ride in the end, got any off-road trails around there?

Re: Flat Black & White: First mock up

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the comments and inspiration :D
Well we'll see how this one pans out...

My theme, as Skipton says "Build it Ride it!"
So I got to make this ridable and the mock up is already showing challenges
Sorry no clunker Youthgeye, Aluminum Winter was my "clunker" and I'm ready for slicks now

Mocked it up and then looked at where I wanted the seat so moved it (crudely)

Nothing like showing all the cards in your hand :?

It's got the stance I was looking for but 24" fork and wheel/tire bring the pedals too low for fast corner riding
I'll figure it out, maybe a 3 piece crank with 160mm but
Still trying to decide whether I get this together with what I have, or look around for ideas...
It's tempting to think that I have most of these parts in hand so just use them
Going to be mostly a weekend project so this is going to be a slower build

Like the Colson handlebars, their wide but not too crazy but rusty, pitted, painted (badly) and heavy
Found the aluminum non-road bike stem by sure luck, and I'm really happy
Going with fenders, short and fat on the back and skinny on the front, chain guard eventually too

The white steel wheels are heavy and not in the primo paint condition (plus loose spokes)
Don't think I'd paint them or I'd switch to aluminum and finally learn to lace

Going to concentrate on a unique laid back seat post (or buy one if all else fails  )

Lots a very cool bikes are being made and I'm glad to be part of it 8) :D
Thanks for looking
Steve

Re: Flat Black & White: First mock up

Looking good, I'm glad your in the build off.

Re: Flat Black & White: First mock up

Looks good so far. I have some different bars lying around if you want some other options. Let me know.

Re: Flat Black & White: First mock up

Always enjoy your builds buddy! 8) I will be watching & stealing ideas along the way!

Re: Shelby Path Racer: Change of plans

Skipton, I'm going with a single speed, I know that you can go faster with more speeds
After I got through winter with the A.W., I just want one speed
I glad you're in too Kenny, I like the big and little's on your bike
Thanks Fat Willy. I may take you upon that yet, still got that 1.75 for you son's bike yet if you need it
So glad you're in this year and when we're done, we'll cruise 8) :D
Thanks Ndaway, hope you like the change
Can't wait to see what crazy tricks you try this year Pick

I'm sorry guys, I wasn't as jazzed as I should be about doing that bike,
but now I am about the Shelby :D :D

Thought about the Schwinn pedals being so low
as I pedaled hard around a corner with the Spaceliner...
Tried a 26" fork and another Hoggy G up front but it had only 1mm clearance

So this bike was going to be a "Build within a Build" than thought I should just do it
Need another path racer to swap out the Spaceliner one in a while

Found this frame with a Sunday afternoon with FIL
IMG_9586.jpg

$20, the frame is straight but nothing else (that's fine)
Stripped down the frame and it's 3-4 coats of paint, black spray, white house
IMG_0269.jpg

And it might have had red and blue on it somewhere but bare metal under the white (3 hours this afternoon)
IMG_0331.jpg

It has some rust but it's not pitted and seemed to clean up kinda good so far
IMG_0332.jpg

Might have a trick up my sleeve with the finish but might just polish it up bare metal as a backup plan
Learned more about polish on AW and want to try steel now
Think I can get it there with a lot of elbow work
IMG_0335.jpg

Have to make this one work, no more change-ups
Thanks for Looking
Steve

Re: Shelby Path Racer: Change of plans

Glad to see you building! :D I'll be watching

Frame looks good naked!

Re: Shelby Path Racer: Change of plans

That's a cool old frame Steve. Polished metal would look great! The problem is deciding when it's good enough to stop polishing!! I remember your BO6 Spaceliner bike. Liked it a lot. Look forward to seeing where this one goes.
