skip tooth chain

how do i remove a skip tooth chain? my normal chain tool wont work with the links being so close together. is there a master link i should be looking for? it might be rusted enough that i just have to cut it off.

There should be a master link... Should look a little different from the other links.
One the skiptooth chain I had, you just had to bend the link sideways a bit to pop it off...

You may have to pry off with a screwdriver. Don't cut it. Rusty chains can be rehabed to some extent.

a good soaking in some mineral spirits could free up some links, and help clean it up enough to find the master link.

my skip tooth chain looked rusty and beyond fixing, and had a lot of stiff links. but i took it off and soaked it in PB blaster and motor oil for about 2-3 weeks(flipped it over in the coffee can every once in awhile), and then took the wire wheel to it, and it works like a new chain! i even found out it was made in checkoslovakia!
