Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Great day for a ride 16 degrees no wind and perfect blue sky.
Beats 40 degree rain any day

Skip,
That's gotta be special, riding Vintage Chicago-made bikes in modern day Chicago. Lookin' forward to coming up this Spring and/or Summer.

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Thanks RatSphinx
I have a lot of fun riding the vintage bikes around the city.
Would be great to ride with you. Hope you can make it this summer.

Lets see if this pic works now.....

Not sure why this photo uploads upsidedown :?
In my photobuket it's right side up. I have turned it every which way
But then it loads like this :(

Can anyone out there fix it for me?......please? :D

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Looks right to me. You probably fixed it the first time you rotated it. Your browser just showing you the original pic which is cached.

I don't always have any witty or insightful comments to post but I am always following along :D

I'm very optimistic about it. I think my first year Machinist Apprenticeship Classes let out in June sometime.

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Skipton, you have a great ensemble of bikes....really like that white Monark. 8)

Perhaps I can join you guys for a ride in Chicago this coming Spring.

Steve,
This is the slowest bike I have.
My knees hit my chin the Firestone tires are not the best rolling
And the stock Monark chain ring is to big (52) for a guy hitting his chin with his knees
But I love the bike!
That's funny! I know the feeling about knee interference with JUP

Totally agree!! You must have got the same weather we had a few days before.
The bright sunshine really warms your up. And the really blue sky just makes you happy :D
Pictures are great, especially like the under-handle-bar and the snow-on-the-grass shots
Ride On!

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

That's a sexy find right there!!!!

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Thanks guys!

Good thing I haven't put the fork on the Monark yet  ...... Get to that in a second

First had a nice ride in to work,

But when I first jumped on the bike I thought maybe I was getting the flu, it felt so hard to pedal, but I convinced myself it was the studded tires and the fact that I was not awake yet.

But halfway through I stopped to check, somehow the front wheel bearings were binding up
NO WONDER IT WAS SO HARD TO PEDAL :|

I stopped to fix the wheel and took a few pics

I know I need to take photos from another spot
But I have very little time after dropping the kids off then zooming home and hopping on the bike

After fixing the wheel and having very little time to make it to work.
I noticed the bike sounded funny and felt a little weird.... Like the rear wheel was loose
But with 10 mins and a 1 mile ride to make it on time I had no time to stop and look

Made it to work with time to spare but.......... Look what it found

Think I got my $30 investment out of this bike and hundreds of miles
Going to find something else to put the cool fork on.

As you can see this bike gets ridden HARD and put away wet.

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos

Mine was fixed also, but they only did what they could get to without taking the cranks/sproket off, I finished it before I painted it. Seems common. Get it to me, Ill fix it for ya.
