....A day or too late from a woman who wanted to talk to me about a Stingray I bought from her,so in my mind I am thinking about a 72 five speed that I found and bought for a good friend, who is absolutely in love with his new bike. And then I looked at the phone number, not the same bike, she is thinking about the Columbia Playbike that I have been slowly getting parts for. It turns out her kids are giving her a hard time for selling it as she was the original owner. So I haven't talked to her yet but the way I look at it is I bought it fair and square, along with the fact that I am trying to restore it back to original instead of rotting in her backyard. I just need to call her and give her closure........to be continued

I have been in that spot several times with different items, it is ALWAYS the kids or some other person who will benefit from it that raise the issue, it is NEVER the person that sold you the item because they had absolutely no interest in it whatsoever, That is why you have it now. THEY DID NOT WANT IT, It is not your job to salvage it and keep it safe til they want it back. If the seller sincerly made a mistake it is a different story and I would deal with it different. When the kids come in after the fact, after it was sitting outside for several years abandoned, and want it back, Put a Price on it and see if they really want it. It is your bike to do what you want now.

Well said, I agree completely.

One of her family members looked it up on the internet and wants to make some dough off it.

It is almost a given that the kids think they can make some money without having to do anything for it. I wouldn't worry about it.

all else fails tell her it was stolen or you sold it allready......

all else fails pretend like you have no clue whats she's talking about and maybe she will think she is going seniel.....lol j/k

show her another 20"canti frame bike that you've allready ratted or wildly cutomized.
she wont know the difference.
tell her in the last month since you got it you allready fixed it up(or down)
even better....look thru the burrito thread and print a crazy bike. tell her ya already cut it up and watch her reaction

Well I replied to her email , she wanted to buy it back for the $40 I paid so I told her that I am keeping it and I already ordered at least a hundred dollars worth of parts that were specific to this bike and to tell the kids I am sorry. She emailed me back and wanted to know if I wanted a free girls Huffy and that the kids have a west coast chopper now  So I told her I would check it out and get her phone number for "I am the owl"

They're gonna kidnap you and hold you for ransom when you go to pick up the Huffy! ...Your family MIGHT not pay (playbike) and you'll NEVER be heard from again. Your life is worth more than a Huffy (I don't know about an Elgin).

I am cracking up here......
