Today I finally got a myself a tank! From what the guy told me its a 1940-42 (a "prewar" right?) and it was blue and that he got it 10 years ago and tore it down and its been sitting since.
After digging in a box I found the headbadge (YES!) and it turns out its a Road Master by the Cleveland Welding Co.
Has all new spokes and new 26x2.125 White walls! Well, the tires are 10 years old but brand new and not dry rotted.

It needs new bearings all around unless I can find all the parts and put the old ones back together. I also need to get all the spoke nuts or whatever they are called, a seat post, pedals, etc...

Well, you get what you pay for. Probably explains why it was free :D

So, here are the pics...

Going to be a FUN project!
(Anyone got parts?)

Looks like a great project. Maybe this will help with that rear hub. I thought I had a exploded view but, I can't seem to find it. The diagram does not show the number of brake shoes/disks (D28,D27). They all slide onto D-22 alternating steel and bronze discs.

I've rebuilt lots of old hubs and I'd say on 90% or more of them the bearings and races were okay...just needed chemically cleaned real well and regreased. I'd be surprised if your hub bearings or races were shot. The "nuts" on the spokes are called nipples...(spelled "selppin" backward as Steve's dirty word filter probably won't let me say that.) HaHa!
