Took a trip to Home Depot to get something to mount the saddle springer chassis to and then mount to the frame. I think this punched square tube should be plenty strong enough and the right size.

Flattened out the lower chassis in the vise.

I cut the length I need and it will mount on frame something like this.

Drilled out the nanner mount rivets on the top pan..

Now I can start fitting the springer chassis to the total nanner. Did some more nannerizing of the shape of the springer chassis. I straightened the upper chassis bars and they fit the original pan bolts about as perfectly as could have hoped for without and additional adjustment.

Cut some of the uphostery and added a carriage bolt to the front of the nanner to bolt up with the front of the chassis.

I came up with an additional spring support to get the seat to the right height and proper support. I still need to work out the upper mount for this middle spring tomorrow. I'll have the lower mount recessed into the punched square tube.

Been making progress on the seat chassis mounting. Shaping the holey square tube to play nicely with the chassis.

Time to update my progress from today. It was a learning process, and I had to jump around from part to part a little.

After getting the holey tube mounted on the seat chassis, I did a test mockup. I had left the holey tube a bit long to make sure I had enough. It was obvious this was too long and that it would interfere with the holey higgins rack and that the sissy bar is mocked farther forward than it's final position.

So, I sat the seat work aside and tried to lock down the sissy bar location by first. I mounted it in that existing Monark fork end holes knowing this would be much higher than it's final location. But I could get it in it's correct vertical location. Then I decided to break out the holey higgins rack and figure out where I needed to cut slots for the sissy bar to fit through.

This is where I had bad case of brain flatulence and cut away a lot more than I needed. I was comparing the sissy bar location in reference to the current centerline of the wheel. Then for whatever reason I thought that I needed to account for any wheel adjustments, so I cut a range of space rather than the needed smaller slot since the sissy bar will have a stationary vertical position. Oh well. OOPS! I'll figure what to do with the space later.

I wouldn't worry to much about any extra 'open space'. You are the master at filling up open space with cool stuff! :wink1: :nod:

This is going to be one of the most recognizable 'back ends' since, well, you know...

Now that I had the rack and sissy bar in position I trimmed a couple more inches off the holey square tube base.

With this mockup I could see that I needed to trim even more from the length, but also needed to either come up with a wedge at the rear or somehow make a bend in the holey square tube base.

Next step was to trim up the tail end of the holey tube bracket so that I could mount the mid spring for the seat. I still need to create a mount for the top section of the spring to the nanner.

Now that I have the base pretty much ready to mount, I need to start figuring out the bracket to mount the sissy bar to the nanner.

As you can see, the sissy bar is way too tall. Before I can decide it's height I need to create the mounting bracket.

Salvaged a bed frame that a neighbor was throwing away in the lane and cut a angle section.

Decided to use some of the South Boston CADboard that everyone is talking about and cut it out of a thick piece of Simpson Strong Tie from Home Depot. Got the cuts roughed in and the bends done. I'll clean it up and bolt it all together this week sometime.

Productive day. It felt good to get dirty cutting and wrenching and cipherin on this. That is all that I got done today.

Finished the day with the sissy mocked in it's approximate location along with the holey higgins rack and the springer nanner based in place.

That works really well together. Digging the funkiness

As for the enlarged slots, could you do some riveted in cover panels, or just have them welded back in?

Not sure what I will do yet. Doubt it will be any welding.
