That rack reminds me of a 60s Thunderbird convertible lowrider.

Looks great!
It reminds me of the color that I used on the 'Smart Bike' that I built a few years ago. Except that I used a matte black two tone.

I'm sure that you remember this one!:wink1:

Yep, that is the old DC transit bike I parted out. I forget the paintjob. It sure looks close to the VHT Burnt Copper I am using.

How long before the 'unmasking'? 24 HR set up time?

Supposedly you can handle it after 3 hours. I kept my self busy with other stuff for 7 hours.
By then it was completely dry.

Since it was late and a little humid to paint the other taped off parts, I had fun unraveling my two tone Twin Bar.

Here is the new frame! There isn't a great deal of light in the pics. But the coppertone looks killer.

THE GOLDFISH LOVE THEIR NEW COUSIN!!!

As a graphic designer, it gotta say that I'm impressed with the tape/masking job. Reminds me of my days assembling film in a print shop. That type of technical skill is disappearing from the world in the digital era.

Looks fantastic!

I'd love to see a thin chartreuse green pinstripe seperating the colors. :39:

EDIT:
Had to see for myself!

I would love to see a green pinstripe there too :D (even moreso after your photoshop stripes) , I just don't know if I have any time for that with only 10 days . I have a Buegler striper, but I have never used it. Back in July when I thought of the coppertone/silver I revisited @gowjobs Dropout build, I remembered how cool the green pinstriping looked on the same VHT Burnt Copper paint. I even swung by a few auto parts stores last night to see if they might have some vinyl pinstripes in green (longshot for sure). I just don't think I will be able to pull it off in time though. Maybe I can slice some Frogtape masking tape thin and use that as stripes? It actually wouldn't be the first time I used masking tape for pinstipes (starsNbars) :D

I even tested a little green on my test bed fender

Cloudy this morning, but I still put the coppertone on the tins and fork.

So did the chainguard.

The painting was going great and about 80% into it, I got too close with some of my passes on one side of the rack. Laid it on way thick and it puddles and ran a little. I tried massaging it with more paint, then ever attempted to wipe a little away. Sprayed over that mess and it ended up with this built up area.

I contemplated just leaving it as is, but broke out the 500/1000/1200 grit sandpaper and smoothed it down a bit for a re-pass of paint.

Looks like it will be fine after a few coats
