D+5 numbers would be 1957 for a Tiger. 6 numbers would be 59 as noted above by hammer mechanic.

Also noted above, the chainguard isn't the same style as a 57 as shown in the catalog, it's the later style like a 59 . The Tiger is shown only available as a 3 speed in 55-57. In 59 you could get it in one, two, or three speed. So your one speed S-7 wheel points to 1959 also.

Lastly, the handlebars look 59 also, the earlier model has curvier bars, yours look more like the longer ones on the 59 illustration.

Thank you Wildcat! Someone painted it and made a mess. I can see the outline of the trim paint on the fenders. Hope I can save it. It has black schwinn script hand grips, the front rack that's in rusty but fair condition and the mounting bolt for a front brake.

I missed the brake mount on the fork. It also has one for a rear brake. That would make it a 3 speed bike possibly. Is the rear wheel a one speed?

Well, I own a '63 Tiger (with later deluxe fenders), and pretty sure they made it in '64 too, though they went to chrome fenders. Schwinn wasn't super picky about using frames & forks set up for hand brakes on coaster models. They built whatever was on the order sheet, and whatever was handy! -Adam

S-7 single speed Bendix coaster rear. Both rims are factory white with a thin black pinstripe. Both tires are Pirelli S.A. Superflex Cord.

My brother made another trip to NC and had another load of bikes. This one appears to be a 1957 Schwinn. Maybe a Traveler or Racer?

This is a Hercules Tourist my Aunt Gaye sent to me along with a 26" S6 Schwinn 3 speed rim.

This is a 1971 Collegiate pretty complete.

This is a Sears Spyder (I guess y'all know how I feel about Stingray style bikes!)

A 1971 Schwinn Typhoon in good condition and rides great.

Now for the Crème de Résistance. The all elusive Sears Screamer frame, springer fork and handlebar

Check out the prior owners tag still on the headtube. It says
"Micheal James Albert"
"The Lover"

The frame is broken at the rear dropouts on both sides. I hope I can repair it.

And my favorite out of these is a 1951 Schwinn skip tooth bike with original Typhoon Cord tires!

The Schwinn doesn't have the correct S-7 front rim but I have a nice one for it. They are surprisingly complete. All of them need work but that's the fun part. Right? Suggestions appreciated.

Killer scores!
Especially the Screamer 2. Looks like all that is missing on that one is the banana seat. That is the bike that I had as a kid. The chainguard is in incredible shape considering the rusty frame.
Love the piston shifter on the ray too.

When I saw it in person I thought "WOW it's almost all there. Cable clips, clear shift indicator, shift knob and even a very small piece of handlebar wrap hanging out of the end plug." I knew I was bringing it home!

A sneak preview of some Schwinn built Packard boys and girls bikes I found in Hickory NC. (Storming outside so more pictures later.)

Of course the girls bike is the cleanest and most complete. But the boys bike has a springer fork and drop-down stand.

If you ever think about turning those Morrow hubs loose, I’ll take em. I’m kinda a collector
They are also easy to date (hehe). I’ve dated a lot of them (even more funny). Google morrow date codes and find the stamped numbers on the shell. I’ve found that most Morrow years match the bike year pretty well.

Wildcat with the good info as usual! @Sting Ray Lover an easy way to get a rough age on schwinns is the rear dropouts. If they face backwards, it's pre WW2
