1st things 1st.. what a great place this.. wow i have found so much inspiration from this site this has become the perfect mix for me, i have being welding cuting and grinding metal for most my life, and riding and racing bikes ( mostly bmx and motocross ) but i never put the 2 skills togeather until i came across this site. so Thank you.

Now the question my 1st project is a stretching the Schwinn occ chopper to man size. It is coming along well, with a big stretch and some custom bars and i'm working out the bugs for a suicide brake, the question is, should it push towards the handle bars to stop, or pull back to the seat ?

again thanks for the great site and looking forward to the input.

my suicide brake is pulled towards the rider and is very easy to use.

 that bike is sooo sick, its disgusting! (trust me, thats a good thing) allow me to welcome you, sounds like your definatly in th eright place. great bikes and even better people.

as for the suicide brake, id have it pull back. makes more sense to be pulling back vs pushing forward when coming to a stop, especially that wheel being the front. and for the bike, what a wicked road machine. all the details definatly add up.

I've never seen a coaster hub used as a front brake before... learn something new every day!

And welcome, Deathtrap, I guess push or pull depends on how fast you're going to ride it. I would be tempted to try a push lever, but I've seen mostly pull ones on here.

Either way, show us how it works out!

i wasn't the first though, others here pioneered the way. :)

If you set up to push, momentem may cause you to push harder and lock it up  , not good if it's on the front!
