Small update on date night I still got a little bit done...old socket swivels for each end of the front bar. So it's removable, I think I'll cut an old extension in half and weld each half to the two connecting points on the two frames. Savvy?View attachment 241199View attachment 241200
GC, I did something very similar for the connection/steering arm for Crash and Burn. I plan on using motorcycle fork boots for protection and cosmetics of the 1/2" drive extensions I modified. Have you ever used anything like that (dust boots) with suitable results?

I have not. But, this seems to work very well, in static tests here in my garage I am able to lean the bike both directions, the sidecar seems stable enough and the swivels worked well. Note these are old used swivels too but the sidecar is pretty lightweight. That said I did have to upgrade it once that y'all didn't see. I built it once with a lighter hinge and it was shakey. I then found the big gate hinge I was looking for in the first place and immediately changed it. Did all that last night.

Test run today was so scary I forgot to take pics til I got back but no brakes is no bueno.

Gotta run cables for brakes and derailleurs.
Add some doodads and it's done.

In the 90's all week. By the time the sun goes down I'm worn and the garage is a muggy hole but I'll try to get the cables on it soon. 4 days left.

Whew! 30 minutes or less...
It better be right around the corner cause this thing might be able to scoot, but it's still a tank. An old steel step thru Shelby from the early 50's that's been welded on and patched a dozen times. But I got the cables on and it'll ride AND stop.

It breaks my heart when I go back and see the Shelby I started with in the '22 March Shootout with a ShockEaze fork.

I did save the fork and headset...
But this old bird got cut up and modified...

... and even though I saved that old fork it rode terrible.
I couldn't get it apart to change the rubber bushing.
