This Talisman frame/fork had been hanging around the Boise Bike Project for a while so I was asked to build it up. The more I built the bike the more I really like it. The toptube on the frame has some dings and the paint has seen better days. I figured this was a great way to get a nice bike.

I can't find much on the builder. He was a local frame builder in Seattle in the mid-90's and did mostly touring frames. He gained experience working at Rodrigiz Cycles.

Talisman Frame and fork
Shimano 600 cranks, rear derailer
Shimano 105 front derailer
Suntour shifters
Mavic rims with Atom Hubs.
Campy headset and BB

Re: Talisman Touring bike- Handmade

Cool bike - I've seen one somewhere, I remember that "celtic" script on the logo. Certainly has some nice components!

Please do tell if you remember. I have emailed everyone (4) I could find online and no body knows anything.

Some of the components may go, some may stay. I am think of going to a moustache bar setup and certainly a shorter stem.

Thanks. The name is on quite a few places. One I didnt' even realize until looking at the pictures-back of seattube. One on each fork leg too.

Re: Talisman Touring bike- Handmade

Thanks for checking. The first one at S&S, I have seen. The other one is not the same builder - just same name.

I probably will never know, but that is okay. I rode it to work today. Easy and fast going.

Re: Talisman Touring bike- Handmade

Very nice!

Re: Talisman Touring bike- Handmade

The drop bars were not for me. Moustache bars were on my list of upgrades as well as a shorter stem. I really like these for around town so far. I even added a lunch rack.

Re: Talisman CX bike- Updated bars 9-29

This bike has undergone a few transformations. I think I finally found a perfect combination. It is now my daily commuter. I am still waiting on one final part, so complete pictures will come later.

The front rack is neat. You've got a good look going there.
The front rack has been removed in favor of a huge saddle(seat) bag. I will have more pictures up after I get my new Velo-Orange front wheel.

I see you're running aluminum fenders there in the sneak peek, but I can't help but think that the new Planet Bike wood fenders (curved profile!) would look slick on this bike. Granted they're expensive ($135), but worth it probably...

So was this thing designed to be a cyclocross bike? Looks like it has semi-racey geometry.

Yes, the Geometry is pretty aggressive. That is why I went with the saddle bag, short chain stays did not allow for a rear rack.

This bike may finally be done. I found cracks on both chainstays, though it still rides fine. Looking for a new frame, then might try having this frame welded.
