Stopped at the local Salvation Army today and saw a CCM Elite 5-speed mixte. Brown, decent paint, full fenders. Shimano 5-speed on the stem, Lark derailleur. It worked, but it seemed pretty crunchy. 26x1 3/8 thin stripe whitewalls... the whitewall was peeling off the front tire. Had this COOOOOOOL aluminum kickstand... looking from the regular kickstand side, it looked like a regular kickstand, but when I went to put it up, it resisted... turns out it's attached to another one on the other side and they pivot up and down together and hold the rear wheel off the ground. Price was 20 bucks, and then the guy told me everything was 25% off today.... man, I struggled with it, but it's not the kind of project I want to do and I don't have room for it...

if nothing else, I will kick myself for not getting it just for the kickstand... :roll:

I saw one of those stands on eBay the other day during yet another fruitless search for an affordable repair stand. I think it was listed as a tandem stand, I forgot to add it to my watched items of course.

I thought about buying it to resell, but we don't have much of an active CL in this area (Chambersburg, PA) and the thought of shipping a bike gives me the willies, so Fleabay is out... anybody want to come pick it up here? :mrgreen:

This other forum site I go to talked about shipping among members. They said the Corvette guys "shuttle" parts across states from where a part is to who bought it, by members who live between point A to point B. This could be a way for us to get bikes from each other, gas is $$$$$$ so I don't know if it'll work out. ACD had a cool bike for sale a while back and I forgot to post this idea. We get new members all the time so maybe one day, we can just go a few blocks and hand off!

I can get those kickstands,... and the motorcycle style that lifts the rear wheel off the ground when you push the bike back. anyone interested? :?:
