I have recently seen a post on here about the Ashtabula stamped stuff.Thought to myself, wish i could find some of them..Ta.DA..wonder of the money value? Now i need some Lesters for it.Should i try to polish this?

A little more research and i find this,interesting...i know its not rat but.....Dan Gurney BMX bikes were produced by a company called All American BMX. the company was only in business for about a year and a half. from 1975 into 1976. All american BMX was already out of business by then. Mike Devitt of SE fame was one of the people behind the scenes at Gurney.

A little more background here. About the time that bike was made, Gurney was building Formula Ford race cars (named Eagle, as all his race cars are). Those cars were delivered with engines built by Williams Engines USA, here in KC.

Charlie Williams has a couple of sons, who were about 11 and 13 years old at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if that bike originally belonged to one of them.

I worked for Charlie for several years in the mid '90s, and he and his family are still very good friends of mine. If you want, I'll ask Charlie (or his wife Norma) about the bike.

I do believe Charlie was the guys name.? Was saved from a scrap heap here in town.I would be interested in finding the cranks and ring oh and the Eagle Mags too.

I just talked to Charlie, and none of his kids had one of those.

It's obviously a rare bike. He's friends with Gurney, was actively doing business with him at the time, has kids of the appropriate age and not only didn't own one, he's never heard of the bike.

I can find no info on an approximate value of this bike, forks are around but nothing to compare to.Take into consideration this is a pre-SE Racing bike, the year, condition, cool factor...Still,i have no idea :?

The same as anything (especially an esoteric collectible); it's worth exactly what someone will pay for it. This is the exact situation that sites like fleabay were designed for.
