I would like to get back to three BOs a year, three months each, with a month in between each.Half a dozen years ago maybe more. There were 3 build offs each year. The Main Event, The Winter BO and the Muscle Bike. Some folks (who are no longer here for other reasons pertaining to attitude and temper) complained there were too many build offs. So the WBO and the MBBO were combined and there was much more down time between. Also a couple MBBO's ago a member asked for more time and it was extended (too long now IMO) but there is still down time between events.

I'm sure there are plenty of people still here that would say that is too many.
The extended length for BOs should be ended, as we aren't under lockdown anymore and the supply chain for bike parts is (marginally) better.
HAHA I just pm'ed you this exact thing Prior to seeing this... 3 build offs a year each with 2 classes one for Authentic and 1 for some kind of unlimited. check out the MBBO rules for 2016 - 2018 two classes 1- Real muscle bikes and clones and 2- the o' 2 out of 3 rule unlimited. Very similar to the Main Event rules with 2 classes. Also a 2 class WBO with the Offroad in one and The Skinny in the other would be a pretty cool "Both Ends of the Extreme" kind of build off. Keeps people busy and engaged with the site, gives us more to promote. Builds in every class you can imagine at least once a year. I see no down side except more work for the MODS.I am with Rusty ^. The old format seemed to work well. And I agree with you Carl, the extended WBO time frame is way too long. Part of having time parameters is to keep the action going, and process posts moving along on builds. I think the main annual build off limited to May 1 - August 1 will have some builders kicking and screaming, but I do think 3 months is a good time frame for a build-off.
Question for you, @GuitarlCarl , if we go to 3 BO's again, would you put the 'Skinny / Road / Gravel' class in the WBO along with another class to have two classes, to keep the build-offs similar in structure? And would the Muscle Bike Build Off have two classes, similar to the main BO, with Class 1 being a 'no welding' mod class and Class 2 being scratch built and open modified class? Where would the klunker / off-road builders fit, in the Winter Build Off as a second Class along with the Skinny's?
In reference to @Cyclist 's post, I believe she was referring to how the build off would be monitored and moderated and structured; not necessarily which classes of builds would be included. That's my take on it. I personally would vote for keeping all three classes at this point in a single Winter Build Off, and revert back to the '3 Build Offs a year ' mode beginning next Spring, 2023. Just to avoid even more upheaval than we are already experiencing.
This next paragraph is for all the members of the community, not anyone specifically:
Open discussion is always welcomed by me, and I believe all the other moderators and administrators as well. When the comments come in the form of insinuations, finger pointing, and directives that have a detrimental tone; that's the kind of verbage that isn't helpful.
Again, it's 'just us'. We as a community of builders and admirers, are RatRodBikes.
That is a very strong point,Matti. If I don't get my MBBO entries painted by Oct 1 in past years, it wasn't likely to happen. The only flaw I see on this is having two going through the winter (Sept to Dec, Jan to Apr) would make paint really difficult for some of us northern builders.

and the opposite for others world wide for the main. You can paint in the cold cuz I do it all the time. Bring your bike in til it's warm. Preheat with hot tap water your rattle cans... take them outside preferably in a garage or shed. and paint. Now after a half hour or so I like to carefully bring my painted frame back in the house to dry in the warmth because drying before it freezes is important but I've done it both ways when it wasn't subzero. The only flaw I see on this is having two going through the winter (Sept to Dec, Jan to Apr) would make paint really difficult for some of us northern builders.
I really like the idea bringing back the three BO rhythm. Mainly because the BOs is what gets attention and makes it fun to build/watch. And as stated before: a lot of us (at least me) get better work done under a bit of pressure...2023 maybe April 1 to Aug 1 for main, the rest of Aug off,
Sept 1 to Dec 1 MBBO, the rest of Dec off,
Jan 1 to Apr 1 for the Offroad/Skinny
and in 2024 move the main to May 1st to Aug 1st
this gives everyone a year to get used to the idea of a 3 month build off as the normal that it used to be...
Mods will be busy the month before the end of a build off prepping till the end of the month off!
We gonna squeeze two in real quick this time?
An artist friend of mine was experimenting with rattlecanning here in Colorado last Winter and he turned out some very cool effects by using the cold to his advantage. I'm going to strip and primer a couple of 1960's Snyder frames for him to do his magic for a couple of BMX-styled coaster brake cruiser builds.and the opposite for others world wide for the main. or jump in your car and drive it down here to 60 miles south of Chicago and paint it in my garage and dry it in my indoor shop.

...I'll let myself out...
I'd also like to see 'Swag Packs' offered sometime in the future. A bunch of stickers, maybe hats and tees, keychains, cozies, whatever...that could be ordered by 'RRB ambassadors' to give out at local bike shows/swaps...or even car/truck/motorcycle shows/swaps, as there are a lot of crossover interests between them.Props to those who are taking the reins on promotional efforts. While I don't participate in anything online with the opportunity to promote RRB, I do my best to bring people in who I meet in-person if they seem like the type who would enjoy, benefit, and contribute to the efforts here.
