Like where this is going bud.
Not sure what your 'vision' is for this bugger. Personally, I'd like to see the wooden slat sides happen. Reminds me of what we used to call 'stake trucks' back in the day.

You could always trim the short one a little so it fits inside the bucket, mount at an angle for a seat back.

@MazdaFlyer the wood bed is genius, if I stick with the wagon bed I might borrow the idea.
But, ive got my ideas spinning in my head too... We'll see.

I used the same wood floor design on a Garton wagon restoration.

You're free to use my idea...the wainscot wood came from HD. I've seen the same wood pattern in architectural salvage places for more dollars.

During my mid-day break yesterday, I started on my own 'wood bed' for the Chariot. Using some left over cedar that I reclaimed from an old garage in Mpls that was coming down. Most of it is on the interior of the BACK40 as wainscoting. Wow, great minds huh?

I will also mount them on strips to be able to remove the bed. It's usually damp up north under the majestic pines, this will help the metal bed to dry out as well as the wood bed when not in use.

I set the Chariot on end, then lined the boards up against it to trace a line on the curved front. Jig saw will be used later today to shape the ends.

I like the wood stave sides as well. Maybe trim the front end to angle up to the full height in the back, kind of bring the flow of the low extended front to the raised rear?

Good start on the chariot and wood bed OJ. I've always liked the reuse of barn wood. The builder supply places even sell simulated barn wood for interior design work. Heady stuff!

@OddJob, I think your on track with the angle thing idea. I may actually use radiused ends up front and cut the top one back to the middle vertical member.
Still trying to comprehend how many builders are in on this off the alternative wall build. The build thread is getting a lot of views at least.

@MazdaFlyer , that is exactly what I was thinking on the mod for the wood stave sides for your wagon!

Made some more progress on the Chariot reclaimed wood bed. It fits well in there, and comes out without too much trouble if need be.

Next up I'm thinking chariots of the Romans et al usually had some kind of crest on the front, so your enemies knew who they were dealing with. Got some ideas. Welcome yours as well!

Well when you get in a hurry bad things happen. Measure twice cut once...I know better, I'm going on 72. The pictures tell the story.

So I pinned the rear post, glued the cut joints, clamped and hoping for the best. It is a rat rod after all...perfection is nice but not always possible. The next cut should be oblivious.

Yep, Halloween has def crossed my mind.....
I'm trying to keep the weight down, the thing is a beast as it is, but I like the vent cover / fan guard / piece of grill type of shield.

@MazdaFlyer , maybe you created one of those "Pushmepullyou" type of rat wagons, accidentally of course! If your handle was detachable, you'd never have to turn the wagon around, just attach it to the other end.....
