Forgot I am running an old Wright’s leather saddle.
If I don’t have leather saddle oil/conditioner, what household item can I use on it?

I like it it's creative and it's got a nice chunky look to itNobody had anything to say about my stem made into a seat post clamp, is this a win or a lose?

Haha, that’s hilarious. My brain was trying to tell me it looked like something and now I know what!It works and didn't cost anything (other than a part you had) so that's a win. Aesthetically, when I see it I think of a repair clamp for a garden hose, and to me that's not as much of a win. But I don't hate it.

I like the creativity and the aesthetic. Count me in for a win! The bike is looking great!Nobody had anything to say about my stem made into a seat post clamp, is this a win or a lose?
You could really lean in to it and put the brass hose fitting part sticking over the seat post...Plus it doesn’t hurt that my frame is garden hose colored.
I’ll do that, I wasn’t sure how it worked with everyone. It's looks great!
My internet here is the slowest in the world and keeps getting slower as they add more users to the same bandwidth. I can't get the pics to go fullsize unless they are posted large. I'd like to request you post your pics large if you can. Thanks!
Really liked your seatpost clamp idea. I modify old American iron and that might be an idea whose time has come.Back to work tonight.
My seat post was really tight, so I split a dowel, put some sandpaper in it, and chucked it in my drill to hone out the seat tube.

Then I wanted an alloy seat post but didn’t have one that small, so I sacrificed a stem.

Then shaped it up with a flap disk on the angle grinder and sandpaper.

And it looks pretty sweet.

Then I found a NOS Tioga bottom bracket to install. I was going to run a euro bottom bracket adapter that I bought for this but there’s too much extra steel in the bottom bracket shell for it to fit, and I’m not taking it all out.
