Now that the frame is all welded up, I sanded it, wiped with acetone, primered, and painted. Wanted a “vintage” color so I went with hunter green. Not sure yet if I’ll paint the fork the same or go black. Just waiting for paint to dry now.

Nice work so far. I started watching your tiktok vids and it's really cool stuff. I can see why you have a substantial audience. Looking forward to seeing how this project goes!

Back to work tonight.

My seat post was really tight, so I split a dowel, put some sandpaper in it, and chucked it in my drill to hone out the seat tube.

Then I wanted an alloy seat post but didn’t have one that small, so I sacrificed a stem.

Then shaped it up with a flap disk on the angle grinder and sandpaper.

And it looks pretty sweet.

Then I found a NOS Tioga bottom bracket to install. I was going to run a euro bottom bracket adapter that I bought for this but there’s too much extra steel in the bottom bracket shell for it to fit, and I’m not taking it all out.

Then I found a NOS YST head set.

Nobody had anything to say about my stem made into a seat post clamp, is this a win or a lose?

It works and didn't cost anything (other than a part you had) so that's a win. Aesthetically, when I see it I think of a repair clamp for a garden hose, and to me that's not as much of a win. But I don't hate it.

Haha, that’s hilarious. My brain was trying to tell me it looked like something and now I know what!

Got out tonight and did a little work. I was mostly looking for a stem and I used an old school fork with a tiny interior diameter. Hardly any of these fit and it was only the basic single bolt type.

I finally found a new stem I bought from PorkchopBMX that fits, but it was blue, so I gave it a light sand and then put paint stripper on it.

Then I worked out what ratio I wanted my drivetrain to be, I like around 49 gear inch, the rear hub has a 22t sprocket so that’s around a 42 front, so I went looking through here.

Turns out I have 1 42t sprocket.

(After I cleaned it up)

Finally I threw on the freshly not-blue stem and the MX bars I’ll probably be running.

It's looks great!

My internet here is the slowest in the world and keeps getting slower as they add more users to the same bandwidth. I can't get the pics to go fullsize unless they are posted large. I'd like to request you post your pics large if you can. Thanks!

I’ll do that, I wasn’t sure how it worked with everyone.

Really liked your seatpost clamp idea. I modify old American iron and that might be an idea whose time has come.
