How many on here have bikes they like , but are reluctant to ride because of the wear and tear?I'm not talking about genuine antique wooden rim models , those are understandable.I have a few that I find myself bypassing when I go to the garage looking for something to ride.Two are the Autobikes I bought not long ago. I ride on pavement so I figure the tires on those would wear fast.I also have a Fuji ladies 6speed that rides great but I hate to put miles on it as it looks like new.I realize none of the bikes I own are valuable antiques and I probably should just get over it and ride them. Tell me I'm not the only one with this problem.Confession is supposed to be good for the soul so I expect to be feeling better any time now. :oops:
 
i actually do have one, but not quite for a "too nice" reason.

a trek racer i got when i wanted to try doing a triathlon. i brought it used, fixed a flat and test rode it, then never rode it again. never did the tri (never learned to swim), and the bike didn't really seem like a daily rider type bike (and wasn't that comfortable for it anyway). so i just have it, right now hanging in my garage.

edit to add that i do have other unridden or hardly ridden bikes, but more because i prefer others. if i ever find a fairing for my hutch f1, it might get close to "too nice" status, but i'm bound to at least try it.
 
No trailer queens here, They get ridden or they get sold! No need to take up valuable space when a new project may become available!

I have a Schwinn Jaguar that still has all the tags on it. To my knowledge it has never been ridden. I do try to ride my bikes, but some are questionable if the bearings need grease and the tires will hold up to ride. I am in the process of getting a 1920s Elgin in good working order so I can ride it. It has metal clad wood rims that I put cyclocross tires on. It should be ready in a few days and I will post pictures.

If you want to call it a TQ, this is the one that comes closer than any of my others. 62 Corvette all original down to the tubes. 263 original miles on it.

I've presently got 19 bikes, all assembled and rideable, some nicer and more pricey than others, but my #1 rule is they're all going to be ridden.
I certainly understand your thinking though, since I have the same thoughts about some of mine, wanting to keep them protected and safe, etc., but I have them for the joy of riding 'em, just like my old cars - nothing stays parked!
Probably the closest to an "unridden" to me is my custom fixie that I have mounted on the wall just because I love looking at it... :?
 
i ride everything i own, except my two treak 560 road bikes and road schwinn tempo, cuz i hate the dropbar riding position and everytime i reach for the downtube shifters, i almost wreck on those skinny 700c x 23 tires. :lol: anything else gets ridden and for the wet, wintery season, i do keep some of my nicer bikes off the roads when they are a hot mess, or actually "cold mess". but when weather isnt a factor, its my 59-60' AMF skyrider all the way. :mrgreen:
 
If theres a bike ridable, ill ride it

the only bike i rarely ride is my giant stiletto. Its a pain in the butt to get it up my stairs, and its just not something i could ride every day
