So you remove the front wheel and set the fork drop-outs on the threaded rod and then tighten nuts around drop-outs. I wonder how sturdy the threaded rod is going across that span though?

Well I tried anyway! lol They bikes the guy had were two 26 inch mountain bikes close to the side, and then one small child's bike in the middle, it was almost hanging upside down. So it looked like the weight was pretty evenly distributed. If I tried this, I think it would be a two bike max with some sort of a prop in the middle.
