Had this sitting around for long enough. Got some ideas on the route I wanna take. Probably not as "ratty" as Maine Woods last year, but still planning on having some fun again this year.

Rear hub disassembled and ready to re-lace to new rim. Never done it before. We'll see how it turns out.

Maine Woods was the purist rat bike last year in my opinion.
Love your work and creativity. Looking forward to another cool small rat.

Thanks guys for the compliments on Maine Woods. I am really hoping to have at least as much fun this year. This time of the year, work and wife's projects have got me pretty busy everywhere except the basement with the bikes. Hope to have at least a few updates for everyone over the weekend.

Very tight skip tooth chain soaking in the oil.

Can't get the pedals to free up.

. . . or the back chainguard screw.

Possibly. It got late though, and I was tired of rust for the night. Gotta BBQ to go to tomorrow and Mother's day on Sunday. Possibly some more PB Blaster and such on Monday after work.

I would suggest not using heat on the pedals if at all possible as these are often a heat treated part and heating and cooling can weaken them.

I bet if you put the heat to the end of the crank arm that pedal will come out.

Maybe clamp the crank arm in a vise, get your wrench on the pedal and strike it with a 5lb sledge.
