I posted this before about the seat, but I need to know your opinion of the overall value of this bike. He's advertising it as a Stingray for $100 and he says he's firm on the price, but some guys have pointed out that the frame is an AMF. To me it doesn't matter for the build, but it does matter if the guy is asking $100 because of the name "Stingray", and I should be able to get it for a lot less. I'm planning on making it a rat cruiser for my son, not a muscle bike, so any money I save I can use to put right back into it for a better bike for him.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

I'll go along with 50 bucks. I'll bet the chainguard says "Renegade", that's AMF. I think you can make out the letters AMF on the forks also. But if the wheels are straight and they roll ok, it'll make a great bike to fix up, those were good bikes. It looks like they changed the handlebars, seat, and cranks/sprocket.

Ratina said "the dropouts are the dead givaway". I see that now. I swear this bike has a Schwinn badge on the front.

Ok, this gives me the room to move forward. I'll tell the guy what I've learned about his bike and make him an offer. I'll tell him I'm at $40 for it. I'll go up to $50. If it doesn't happen, then the search continues.

Thanks for the info gents! Very much appreciated!

Look to see it that stem is cast with Asthabula. Those usually are worth reselling along with that banana seat as it looks in good shape.
