Yesterday I took the trailer to our weekly protest ride. The ride went fine and we were around 80 riders despite the somewhat wet and cold conditions.
On the way back this happened:
When I looked back I saw the trailer laying on the asphalt, wheels up...
the trailer drawbar had snapped off
as I still had around 15 km to reach my home we had to come up with a solution, so we checked what was on hand and I let out my inner MacGyver...
A while ago a friend of mine pointed me to an ad that offered this trailer and bike for free.
I took the chance and grabbed it. On site I dismantled trailer and bike and stuffed everything into the back of my car (yes we got a new one! One of these tiny little chinese electrical cars, Ora 03. Check it out).
On the way home I made a quick stop at the local recycling center and dumped all the stuff I didn't want, to just keep what I needed of it, which most obviously was the trailer bar (and some other stuff that was worth saving)!
So now my cargo trailer is operational again! (Sorry no new pics of the trailer so far, have been busy with another trailer project )
