I found this vintage bicycle from what i was told the 1930s and it was supposedly a schwinn, i cant seem to find any logos or anything on it however. I was hoping if i post some pics of the bike someone could give me some insight on what i really have here...any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Only bikeforum members can view the images. Somebody can probably help if you get the pictures on something like imgur.com to host the pictures here.

Re: vintage 1930s schwinn?(fixed links so the pics are included)

so i went out earlier and noticed the front emblem was actually painted over so i got the paint off and found a gold emblem with the writing HARTFORD going straight down, can anybody tell me anything about it? any info at all will help maybe how much its worth, i was told it was from the mid 1930s already but thats really all i know about it. I'm planning on restoring it but not sure if its something i should keep original to keep its value or if its not worth much im just planning on doing my own thing with it..p.s its my first restore on a bike this old so i dont want to ruin it if its something rare.

Re: vintage 1930s HARTFORD?? looking for any info please

Alright, pictures! Now we got this. It looks Westfield built--so search Columbia bicycles from this era and you'll see the same frame. Nothing rare and it's already been repainted, so enjoy without worry! Looks to be later prewar; 39-41ish but Westfield serial numbers are cataloged and if you pull the serial, we can probably nail a year. Good luck!

thanks i was looking for a serial number on it but couldnt seem to find one anywhere idk if its because it was painted over and now i cant see it or im just looking in the wrong places, either way im gonna strip the paint any ideas on the best way to do so?

the serial number says GL 8628, the emblem says Hartford, and the words by the tire says New Departure Model D made in USA...hope this can help even more guys thanks for everything.

I think that serial is G18628 with a poorly stamped 1. That would indicate an early 1942 Westfield build date which the frame agrees with.
