Thanks, man! It's a 1961, found last year shortly after someone tried telling me there was no such thing as a cantilever frame Speedster.

He was thinking of a Typhoon or some other non 61 cantilever type frame.... Goes to show what most don't know unless you live, eat, breath and sleep with Schwinns...

I think it was the first five years of Speedsters were cantilever...they aren't exactly rare.

My ride to work today...
Rescued from a scrapper.
Had a mangled front wheel, and worn out grips and seat.
It's a cool bike, but I can't get used to the two-speed kickback hub... I'm constantly changing gears when I don't want to.

I have the same hub and the same issue with it. I’ve come to terms with it. I find thd weak brake on mine more annoying. cool bike you have there.

That Red Nirve chopper is in dire need of some TLC^

My intent was to cut out from Bootstrap and return after checking on the doggos. One of them is not 100% right now, so tending to them became a priority. Getting out and seeing some people I had not seen in a while was nice. Thanks for the heads-up on this @Palepainter

I’ve had a blast on this restored 7Os Typhoon! Had it powder coated, then added all super nice chrome nuts bolts clamps, etc. Then laced up a set of polished aluminum Holeshot rims with a schwinn front hub and a rebuilt yellow band two-speed kickback hub. Rides amazing!! View attachment 190975

It’s called a sliding rail messenger- came on 1940 up bikes. This one is restored. Probably run you about $350+ for one in this condition
