I met a friend for an impromptu Christmas Eve ride to give her kids some privacy for gift wrapping. It was a beautiful day for a ride! 🎄 🎅

🤷‍♂️Forgot to take pics being absorbed in the moment but saw this rickshaw while riding after dropping off my friend. A new flea/antique market to check out.....

Looks sharp like a razor! Such a thin tubeset, must be a ton lighter than the Quadangle was

It is lighter for sure - maybe not as much as you'd expect - American V Chinese Cro-mo perhaps.

What is most pleasing is the geometry. The main reason I decided not to repair the Quad was the amount of toe strike with my size 14s.

But I haven't touched the front wheel on the S&M at all. Perfect. And it's very stable and steers reliably. Very happy with the Vans Waffle tyres too.

And while Mr JA was also correct - it does need a long seat post for someone my height - it's fitted with a 400mm long unit with 300mm exposed - ie, plenty of engagement, and again in praise of the geometry- it doesn't require any set back to be comfortable - even with my crappola knees.

I did just fit some nylon BMX pedals in stead of the Bullseye bear traps. Keep the bullseyes for show - the nylons don't worry if I lean it on something and don't have the potential to bite as hard.

Pics to follow. When it cools down a bit. Christmas in the sub-tropical south is great dontchaknow. You other blokes can keep all that snow!!! :)

Shortly after wondering what a friend was up to yesterday I get a text from him wondering if I wanted to get in some laps in Superior. So he picked me & PRPPL NRPPL 😈up a bit later.🤓 I forgot my phone but he got a pic of me heading into a berm at a high rate of speed.

I love that bike more every time I ride it 🥰 :inlove::heart:

Recently I got a chance at purchasing a pair of almost unused (around 100 km) Fat Franks for 20.- € and gave it a go. I still had my old trekking bike I built in the early 90ties and made several long trips with. It hasn't seen any daylight in the last 5 or 6 years, as the tires where not trustworthy anymore (cracked sidewalls and other damage...).
So yesterday I put it up in the stand and swapped the old shoes against the Franks and also replaced the missing pedals (I used the original ones for the Wolverine). It took a little bit of fiddling with the fenders, as clearance is really tight, but today it was good for a short testride to the bakery...

Bottom Line:
It runs really smooth on the FatFranks, not rattling at all! Ready for a longer trip!
To do list:
  • readjusting the saddle position
  • new bar wrap
  • decent lock
  • rear view mirror
  • plugs for bar ends and cranks
  • ...

I've also had the Electra out and about a bit lately. This config rides really nicely. I've been doing 30km runs on it - easy.

It's my 'Sportster'.

Looks awesome! I think you are a tall guy seeing that seatpost length

As last year we (the bike activist group RespectCyclists) headed to Potsdam for the yearly "Anradeln" (roughly translates as bike season kick-off ride).
I took my recently resurrected touring bike for it's first longer trip after hanging on the ceiling of our cellar compartment for the last five years.
Here it is waiting for the rest of the pack in front of the bus station where we took shelter from the wind while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive.

I would guess we were around 100 riders that didn't bother about the cold and the strong wind.
So, have Happy New Bike Year 2025! 🎉
