Picked this up off craigslist for 20 bucks. Wife has always wanted one. Anyone know what make, year etc. No markings on it anywhere. Seats are not original, grips don't match. Not sure cranks & chainrings are original either. Pedals not original. I figured the apes were worth the money. :?:

Thanks for Looking!

That's what I thought. Tires, tubes. Wife will be a passenger only, I don't trust her driving! I'd probably yank that 2nd set of bars right off!

Believe it or not, that's why he was selling it. He said their butts wouldnt fit between the back set of bars. Just couldn't pass it up. Paint is tolerable also. Thanks for your input!

Nice find! As stated, your bike is most likely a Sears/Huffy. You probably noticed that the spokes are a heavier gauge...keep that in mind when replacing any broken ones. I found this number "HC0720625" on the neck of mine and am going on the assumption that it is a date; June 25, 1972. I destroyed my front goose neck and handlebars because the goose neck was so badly fused to the fork tube by rust...be careful. The rear handlebars are difficult to find because they are designed to provide room for the drivers rump. You can see that clearly in my "before" picture I'm guessing your handlebars are not original.

Rarest of all is the chain guard. I lucked out right here on the forum. Another user was contemplating the purchase of a tanden not unlike yours or mine. He wanted the bike for parts, mainly a three speed hub. I contacted him for "dibs" on the chainguard and the deal went through. Before that, I looked far and wide for a chain guard with no success.

I replaced my wheels with 144 spoke custom rims. My original rims are not beautiful by any means, but would appear to be in better condition than yours. Does the word "TANDEM" appear on your brake arm? Mine does. So much of your bike looks rebuilt. Chain rings, seats, handle bars all look like they came from somewhere else. I'm curious to know if your wheels are true tandem rims or not. If you're interested in taking mine off my hands send me a PM and perhaps we can make a deal.

Fix it up and ride it...you're gonna love it!
