IS there some where else i should be looking?
Im new to Chicago Schwinns.
the rear casette is made by atom?
alot of "schwinn approved" parts are made in France.

if your serial is in the lower left of your head tube d7 would put April of 87 unless your reading it wrong if its actually a T insted of 7 that would make it april of " 82''

Plain and clear the vin is D7004 not in the schwinn databases?????????????
Could it be a Prototype?
the numberis on the left rear dropout like a 54-69 Schwinn???????????
Wheel size is 27-1 1/4 i think, if that helps any.

Are you sure that the end digits are 04 and not 84? Could be a 1984... :wink:

Do the wheels have ridges on them? Is there a stamped number on the head badge? (If there is, what is it?)

First sold in irocically Elgin, Ill at Delpar Co. Story

The Number is definitly D7004(on left rear dropout)
On the other dropout it has Huret in cursive???

The wheels have a ridge on them.

check for a small four digit number stamped into the headbadge. they are hard to see sometimes, so look closely. if there is, the last digit will indicate the year. any chance to get a pic of the bike?

It does not have the normal vertical-Schwinn oval headbadge.
it has a CIRCLE silver headbadge raised in the center with a S on it.

Schwinns vin number was on the rear dropout 1952-1964. Could it be one of these?
