It all started when I scored these nice fat 24" Davis tires from a 78 yr old guy in Florida. I thought, "What in the world am I gonna do with these?". They had never been mounted on a wheel and in puuurfect condition. I had some 24" wheels from a prev build, but had no spokes. After posting on the Wanted Forum, fellow member Someguy83 came thru like a champ. I also had an old ND front hub and it cleaned up well. I had a 1937 24" rear hub made by a little company that put Morrow on the brake arm. So I went with all black and mounted this up.

Re: White Rooster

Staying with the skip tooth set-up, I pulled a 22 tooth sprocket off of a girls, er umm, parts bike. Rust had almost taken over the threads.

Re: White Rooster

So I've now got a nice set of 24" wheels and tires and a sprocket ready, but I've got no frame. On a trip to the LBS, I see a 24" BMX, and a light bulb comes on. So I mock this up using a cheap frame and parts from my small stock of junk.

But that aint gonna work, so choppy choppy...

Re: White Rooster

Fresh coat of black paint, fresh coat of off-white, found a BMX seat that I rode back in the 80's, and mocked this up...

Re: White Rooster

Thanks for the kind words. I've got more updates coming to show the drivetrain. I am going for a modern look with old skip tooth drive, old hubs and old new tires.
Kinda mixin old and new.

Love the tires! You gave that frame a great new life too!!!

Re: White Rooster

I cleaned the sprocket back to shiny and gave it a coat of paint. Same for the old cranks. Installed and let the baby test out the fresh grease pack on the bearings.

Cleaned the skip tooth chain up real good, and installed the brake arm strap. When the wife saw it, she said, "Of course."

I rode it around the block with a big goofy grin.
Now just for the finishing touches.....

Re: White Rooster

This is a cool idea. I hope there's a metal strap underneath it, don't think the plastic will hold up for long by itself.

I'll never tell...

Thanks again for the comments. Been out pulling wheelies in the street. Its pretty light so bunny hops are pretty good too. Aaaaaa, sure takes me back to 5th grade or so.
