which side are you running the drum on?
I am setting up 2 bikes with them now, I don't want to use the corny Worksman drum fork, im using bmx style straight forks. On both of them things work out better with the wheel flipped around and the drum on the right side, but there is an opening facing toward like that.

This one of them

I guess to be technical, i dont know the company that casts it and machines it but they are used in Worksman wheels, on Worksman bikes.

I use Worksman front drum brakes on three of my rides (pics posted below). I was told many years ago that it was originally a drum brake designed for mopeds (but I haven't been able to confirm this), nonetheless, they are as bullet proof as it gets, after all of these years of use, I have never had a problem.

In as far as application, the lever needs to be placed on the left side facing forward in order for it to be effective. I can post pics if you need details.

So it won't spontaneously explode running it on the right side?
I hate those awful worksman drum brake forks but I had one the same color as my Schwinn so I put it on, for now. I'm trying to set up some other stuff on the bike, I can put the wuler fork back on later.
On the worksman I really want to run it on the right side. It will be so much easier.
Any idea if you can get the adjuster and the cable stop new from worksman? Or???

mine has been this way for 10 years.....

@ind-chuckz can set you up with what you need.
The problem I see with reversing it is that the lever is facing forward. You never want to have it facing forward because of the potential for snagging it on something. With it facing to the rear, any obstruction will glance off if it. Other than that, I'm not sure if there are any other considerations.

For a while, they used Grimeca moped drums. Not sure if that´s still the case.

I´m sure you got it sorted by now, James, but this is why I´ve been messing with the Sturmey-Archer drums. Easy parts availability and all the tech info is on the website. But those Worksman drums just look cool, and they take the fat 11g spokes.

Did you ever get the rear axle sorted out?

I bought An axle But I'm thinking just run single speed freewheel.
I have yet to get one of these drums working. Been riding the worksman with a poser front drum.
