Why do I want a skip tooth chain bike?

I've never been on a bike with a skip tooth chain, but I feel the need to have one!

There's something unique and nostalgic about it that makes it seem like I'm missing out on something by not having one. It's like a fraternity that I'm on the outside of. :?

Is this just another facet of the addiction to vintage bikes that I'll have to work through? :roll: :lol:

I would like to add one to my collection as well but till I get a garage and disposable income I fake it by grinding every other tooth off of a sprocket and run a standard chain. Gives the impression of skiptooth without spending $50-$100 for a rideable chain.

My son and I ride our skiptooth bikes more then any others. We love them and are always on the look out for more in any condition.

I love inch pitch chains. There is no rational reason for using them except they have a certain cool factor, and block chains are even cooler.

Love the bikes, built back in the day when parts were not just functional but also beautiful.

My first vintage Schwinn was a skip tooth model. It seemed to have started my hoard or collection. Just be on the lookout for backup chains.

Seems like I remember reading somewhere how these chains seem to last forever if they're kept oiled properly. :?:

Possibly if you have one that has been taken care of. I have a good one and a couple of rusted and pitted ones with some sticky links. Always good to have a backup.
