If you have read the story at the begining of this Post.
Then, you know that I installed the front forks & rear shocks from my Kawasaki to my Yamaha.
Which made in "my opinion" one of the best, if not the best long distance ramp jump bike ever made.
At the time I was a Pro Jumper and, could sail my bike well over 37 feet.
I realized that the front shocks on the Yamaha were holding me back.
So, I filled them to the top with Trans Fluid, and they would not move.
For, upon hitting the launch ramp they would compress and, also caused the bike to nose dive.
They also made the bike way too heavy. It was also very hard to get the Yamaha up to jump speed with the rear shocks bouncing up & down. And, when my parents bought me a Kawasaki.
I thought I had it made but, to my disapointment. The BX200 was useless to me.
And, not good for much at all.. "It was a pain in the butt". Wasted Money..
So, I tried the rear shocks & front forks on my Yamaha. And, Ta Da a Perfect Jump Bike!
Afterwhich, I traded what was left of the Kawasaki for a BB Gun. lol !
I never tried to build the Kawasaki with the Yamahas' parts. I don't know what became of it.
And, I did'nt care at that time. But, I just recently aquired a BX200 and, I had every intention of keeping it original.
If the Wheels were'nt rusted beyond my repair. Something the eBay seller neglected to put in the Auctions description.
"Thanks alot Alan" No hard feelings.. not! Anyways, Here was my chance to rebuild my old Yamaha. And, also build the Kawasaki.
To be a better bike and, surely it is. The Yamahas front shocks made all the difference in the World.
And, the vintage rear Showa shocks hold my 6 foot 300 pound frame very well.
Hydraulic shocks front & rear wow! I also installed a set of 10" Curb Cruiser Scooter Handlebars.
And, "I can ride it anywhere". I can not ride the Yamaha, it's too little.
I now think that the main downfall of the Kawasakis' design was that it is too big for a child.
This recreation of my Jump Bike is exact, except for the crank. Mine was a 1975.
I may convert it to a 3 piece crank in the future? I even used the same style handlebars.
Which were for a standard gooseneck. There were'nt many handlebar choices back then.
So, I made due.. Anyways, now that you've heard the whole story.
"Maybe you won't be so quick to judge?"
