Just some Saturday updates.

Crappy weather here today so it was a great time to spend in the garage.

The headset arrived and well as some leather 1mm cording. Got the springer built and installed, the light mount figured out (so far), and the flask mounted and the temporary seat post dropped in. The rims arrive from England Tuesday as well as the tires. Still need to decide on the rear hub, but things are looking good so far IMO.

The Velosteel hub is supposedly the same design as the Sachs Torpedo and you can get them cheap from the EU, but it does not have a fancy torque arm.

Wow this is really looking stellar! Love the crank/sprocket combo and the paint is beautiful.

There used to be a guy on ebay who imported those and chromed all the dust covers. I have one on a Stingray and it's a nice hub. Not nearly as sweet as that Sachs though.

Man I love that paint!!!
Great detailing going into this build too.

SO yeah..... got the rims in from the UK and UGH, I'm not loving them. On to plan B there.

On other fronts, got the stem, bell, seat post, and rear hub on the way :)

The rims have an awesome profile and they are super nice, but the look is just too "modern" IMO

They'll either end up for sale/trade or reside in the parts stash.

They are Araya Freeride disc rims.

I can't do much about it now due to my travels, but if/when you put these up for sale/trade I'd be interested. They'd be perfect for my M.B.B.O. idea.

I'll set them aside for you, we can figure something out!

Spent a little time with the handlebars today. Wrapped the grip area in a perforated leather and finished the ends with 1mm leather cord. Tin Cup stopper for the bar ends to keep with the theme.

And a little wrap to protect the frame from over-rotation of the springer.

Old school seat post got here today - now just to take 1/32" off it so it fits.

Very clean looking bike! With all of the other nice shiny parts, have you considered polishing that aluminum plate?

It's crossed my mind :) and it may get swapped out for a drilled version that's polished. I'm waiting to get the rubber on it to see what that does to the color and shiny vs matte vs satin balance.

Great idea, I was thinking about something like that. My paint is not nearly as nice. Your bike is looking beautiful! Very interested in the final results. Keep it up man!

And the last package to arrive today. Rims version 2.0 will be here Saturday.

I like that leather cord better than the string or 3M film I usually use.
