Nice paint job! I think the "Oops-decision" against the first version was a good choice. And I'm really happy, that I could provide some inspiration!
Stay safe!

Managed to mount the tank and get a few pics before it started raining again.

Working on this little yard sale keychain doodad to turn it into a hanging bike tag.

Broke the bike down and started sanding the frame and fork to prep them for paint. Hopefully Hurricane Dorian will let me paint them before the deadline. They have ordered an evacuation, but we are gonna stay. There should be some decent windows here and there to finish this build.

Yes, be safe. Don't want it in SC or NC either.
Hopefully Dorian will swing out to sea soon and not pound the coast so much.

I don't want to be a nuisance... But... What about the headlight? I'd look awesome with the housing in blue, the blue stained glass and that fat chrome ring in between.

I like how all the pieces turned out, but so far the tank is my favorite. Just gorgeous and the paint highlights its shape, it seems. I have to admit I wasn't quite sold on the color at the beginning, but once the wheels were matched by the seat and grips it grew on me.
And that keyhanger plate with the sexy lady is really cool!

I quite dislike bad weather (some people love rain, I assure you I am not one of those people), just thinking of this hurricane makes my skin crawl. Good thing I am beyond the big water.

Thanks. Actually the rear housing of the headlight is now flat black.

Beautiful day today ahead of the storm. I worked from home with my laptop, but after work I setup my ghetto trash can paint booth and painted the frame, fork, and rear of the headlight flat black. Made the lower third of the fork legs the anodized blue. Some of the X53s had the lower section red with the top black.

I didn't want the bare metal tins to rust, so I cleared them with gloss clear. The tank doesn't need the clear because it is chrome.

And lastly I decided to paint the sissy bar Western Flyer X-53 spear with the Metalcast. I will go back and remove the paint from the face of the letters.

We will start to feel the effects of Dorian tomorrow. Hopefully it stays offshore as expected. It should pass by us around 2AM Thursday morning.
