    Representing the 203

I did pink as an homage to traditional hot rod red, and because I love the color and use it on almost all of my bikes- mtb, road, bmx, etc. The light is a classic Whelen (CT company) Par 36 sized light from a cop car. I bought two- one red and one blue - at the local flea market. The guy tried...

Thanks. It's always an adventure, but usually at much faster speeds

    Representing the 203

I scored this a few years ago at a yard sale and it sat and sat. I finally got around to making it "mine" and while I'm not done tinkering it is on the road and a lot of fun. I still need to power the headlight, wrap the seat (maybe, I kinda like the metal pan) and a few other small things...

    Loose headset on '80s BMX

Gyro for sure was standard equipment on an 87 Performer. If you want the best HS ever find a GT Epoch. Adjust it properly once and it never loosens up, evah!

    Spoke length question ...

Once I realized I was in cm and not mm things went much smoother LOL. I came up with 523 + 24 (nipple length) for a total of 547. Making my spokes 272 I edited this because 544 vs 547 was nagging at me so I measured a few more times LOL Maybe I'll even get this thing built eventually ...

    Spoke length question ...

Guess I should actually measure ERD instead of just grabbing numbers off the Internet LOL FTR, the rear spokes are 269 with a larger flange hub- I actually pulled a dozen of them out without needing pliers so I know they're correct :-) Off to the basement I go! Thanks guys, I'll report back...

    Spoke length question ...

I did my best to get correct measurements (a few are more calculated guess than scientifically perfect) and I came up with a spoke length I feel might be a little long so I'm asking for your opinions. I'm lacing an old Schwinn low flange hub (well, it seems low to me) to a 36h 26" single wall...

    Are modern patch kits crap?

am I the only one who checks tire pressure before every ride... and then just buys (ok, I have dozens of spare tubes from bikes I've scavenged over the years) a new tube if I get a blow out?

Replacement rims, which ones, why and where? 36MM or so...

I searched but can't find exactly what I'm after. Could be because I'm not sure how to ask on the search...regardless, here I am asking for help. I have a new project (no clue what it is and I forgot to take a photo before I took it apart) and the rims and spokes are roached. Hubs are New...

    yet another bike shop rant

I would LOVE to see the Merckx! My roadie (a LeMond) is just under 19 lbs with pedals and considered porky but rides great and back in 04 was right in the middle of the price, performance and weight lineup. The local group ride I hit has everything from old dudes to young on bikes under UCI...

Dudley Massachusetts Swap Sunday Nov. 25th!

Brian did okay...ask him about his Elgin... I sold a few things and made some loot and bought a few tiny accessories. I think I spent about $5 aside form the $25 table fee. Sadly, my Columbia 3 didn't sell so I guess it's time to update the RRB for sale thread with my NEW lower price! J
