The Mrs.' 1953 BF Goodrich Co-Ed badged Schwinn with mix & match pieces. As found. Just look how sad and gloomy she is.

Uncle Shish Build-Off Bikes & More!

1942 Elgin that was built over the winter of 2023/24. Before anyone's panties get in a bunch (which never happens here on this site, thankfully) I'm aware that a '42 would not have had a rack nor a tank ... but I had'em on hand - so there ya' go ;) I'm almost embarrassed to say this bike has not...

Thank you. What makes me the most happy is that this bike was saved. Another year of being left outside in Michigan winter may have been the final death knell. The best part is, the way I have it geared, it rolls and pedals about as easy as a modern cruiser.

Had a great weekend putting about 20 miles on riding around scoping out spots with the wife to utilize her photo skills. Next we will chase the light for best times. * Oh, and now that I'm reading pedal placement is important I'll be sure to pay attention 🤣

My pool doesn't totally fit a frame too well, either. It's bendy so I stuffed it in there.

Fantastic work. Your patina technique is inspiring and your kind words and encouragement to others, well, we're all lucky to have you here on this forum. I can say with certainty that my build would not have turned out as cool as it did without you.

Love the bike. I really dig the old graphics on the 50s bikes. I think you could clean the tank with very good results with an OA bath. I spent a part of Sunday getting the pool ready 🤣 Come on over, the water's fine.

Big fan of the splash of color paired with the raw metal finish.

A couple mandatory touches ... The original Manistee Bike License plate from the farm town this bike was found ... ... ad the St. Christopher medallion that was salvaged from one of the bikes that didn't survive. From the original haul, 3 of 5 bikes have been saved.

Thanks! What a difference in rideability, too. Win, win!

I just love them old Roadmasters. They look so solid, like they weigh a bazillion pounds. 🤣 So cool!

I'm going to call today a success! I need to tweak the hub just a tad, but let me tell you, if you have old knees a 24t chainring paired with an 11t rear sprocket is a pretty unbelievable joy to ride! As always, a special thanks to my bike buddy Dyno Dan who tore that wheel back down so fast...

Not too bad ... Contrary to this photo I'm not always a grouchy old guy ...

Also going to try and make the 1939 braces match the 1941 braces.

Today I will be taking steps backwards to move forward. I'm tearing the rear wheel back down and replacing the Morrow with an 11t New Departure.

Last bit from me today ... Someone mentioned earlier about the braces and so I did a comparison of the 39/40 braces to the 41 braces. Might also be worth the swap. Might eliminate the push and pull distortion of the fender.

    Great ideas to try. Thanks.

Here's a series of tests. 1939 Fender with 11t S2 In a compromise to cutting anything on the fender, I drilled a 2nd mounting hole for the seat stays mount position allowing the fender to rotate about a half to three quarters of an inch A little nicer fit where it meets the guard. Seems like...
